Do your kitesurf beginner course at a spot where you will find flat water. It’s best to choose a lagoon without currents where you will find enough space to make your first experiences on the water unconstrained. It is also important that no unnecessary obstacles on land or water await you. But above all, choose a kite school according to international standards (VDWS/IKO), with professional and up-to-date kite equipment so that you can go out with the ideal equipment.
Take enough time to learn your new action sport and pay special attention to sun protection, sufficient drinking water, healthy food and little alcohol!

Learn Kitesurfing in Sri Lanka – a guide for kite beginners!
Training schedule for kite beginners
- Flying school – technics: All above learn about the Wind window, Material Science, How to setup your equipment, Safety rules
- Kite control: Certainly master the trainer kite and further the tube kite, start & land the kite, first water experiences: streering & relaunche, bodydrag upwind & downwind.
- Board school: Powerdive manouver, Board steering, consequently try to ride your first meters, go down wind, Safety training
- Learn how to ride: Firstly controlled Stop & Go and Edge the board, further go downwind and learn how to steer upwind to get back from where you´ve started!
- Train your riding skills: Technique of board edging & body posture, basic jibe, train streering upwind, zigzag tacking against the wind

All kite surf equipment Included
To clarify all courses include professional equipments & accessories (harness, life-vest, helmet and shoes) and suite your level, wind conditions and your weight! Furthermore, our professional kite instructors know what you need to make you ride 🙂
VDWS - International kite surf license
Most importantly an international kite surf licence is a must have at most kite spots all over the world to rent equipment!
With the VDWS kite surf license you get an international accepted licence! It includes a theoretical test and practical level confirmation, VDWS Work & Stylebook for reading and learning, online registration in the worldwide VDWS data file.
What you should bring
Bring a long sleeve lycra, a board short or surf legging, sun blocker, sun glasses. Moreover you can buy those accessories in our surf shop in case you don’t have the option to get one in your home town!
In addition eat healthy foods and drink enough water to give your body the best requirements during your learning period!
Also we ask you to bring a beach towel and not to take the towels from the hotel over to the beach side!
Best times for a kite course
Whenever you are ready to start with kiteboarding it the right time to start kitesurfing!
To sum up the best wind seasons are from May-October & from December – February! There are enough wind days to learn kite surfing during your holidays with us. However, it´s always good to have enough time to train the new learned skills after your kite course!
Boat Transfers & Boat Rescue
To clarify the surf school is directly located at the lagoon. Advanced riders can start their kite in front of our lagoon entrance in accordance to the wind situation. However for all others and for those who prefer to start directly at the beach zone, we offer boat transfers at certain points in the morning and also after lunch! Just a 5 minutes boat ride and you are directly at our kite surf paradise!
In addition our safety boat is always at your disposal on the lagoon and will pick you up whenever you need it!
Frequently Asked
We offer individual trainings and group lessons – what do we advice?
Most importantly we only teach in a maximum group of 2 people per instructor as we know that the more students are with one instructor the less each student learns! 2 students can also learn a lot from each other while teaching! If you prefer 1:1, your instructor just takes care of you only!
To sum up our credo is to offer high end profession in kite surf education to make you ride!
